- What kind of servers does Viet Internet use?
All of our sites are hosted on servers running Linux 2.2 (a flavor of Unix)
and Apache 1.3.6.
- What is Viet Internet's connection to the Internet?
Our servers are co-located at data center using a Cisco powered network with
OC-12, OC-3 and DS-3 connections to multiple backbones provided by Intermedia, Qwest,
SAVVIS, SBC Communications, Time Warner
Telecom & UUnet.
- What are some of the specifics of the data center where the servers
are located?
- 80-minute backup batteries and a 750-kilowatt diesel generator
- 24 hour security with biometric hand-scanning for strict access
control
- 24-hour HVAC with redundant chillers to maintian optimal
temperature
- Cisco Enterprise switches running HSRP (hot failover)
- diverse data cabling paths to the server racks and all servers
receive conditioned power
- How often are the servers backed up?
Data backup is done in real time using RAID 1 hard drive mirroring.
Basically every time you create a file, a duplicate is copied to another
drive that is an exact copy of the main drive. That way if the primary
hard drive fails, the secondary drive will immediately take over until
the defective drive is replaced.
In general it's always a good idea the you backup your site to your
local machine regardless of any server-side backup.

Yes.
- Does Viet Internet offer a money back guarantee?
Yes, we have a 30 day money back guarantee. If you are not completely
satisfied with our hosting we will refund your money, no questions
asked.
- Does Viet Internet offer require any minimum contracts?
Absolutely not.
- Does Viet Internet have a referral program?
Yes, you'll receive a $20.00 credit for each customer that you refer
to us. A credit of $20.00 will be applied to your account once the
customer you have referred to us has paid for their first month of
hosting. This credit can only be applied to current or future web
hosting and cannot be cashed out. A credit will not be issue to an
account with past due balance over 30 days.
To insure that you receive proper credit for a customer that you
refer, ask them to list your name and domain name in the "Person who
referred you" field on our order from.
- Does Viet Internet provide internet connectivity like dial-up or
DSL services?
Viet Internet does not provide any kind of internet connectivity
internet, but you will need to have internet access in order to
administer your account.
- Does Viet Internet offer website design and maintenance
services?
We don't have our own in-house design team, but here are some web

- Can I use my website for commercial purposes?
Absolutely. It's your website, you can do whatever you want to do
with it as long as it's within the guidelines outlined in our Terms of Services
that you agree to when you sign up.
We don't host porn sites, but we do allow erotic photography, erotic
art and other adult material. You are responsible for making sure that
you provide proper warnings and disclaimers concerning the contents of
your website.
Our definition of a porn site is a website that sells memberships to
access adult images and video. We consider these ecommerce sites which
is something that do not really host. Most adult sites in general tend
to have a heavy load on the server because they attempt to attract as
much traffic as possible to the site and the visitors to these sites in
turn download a high volume of files. We do not host any sites that may
have a adverse affect on the performance of our servers and the sites
they host.

referncing the url of your site and we'll let you know if it is the type
of site that we can host.
- Can I use Microsoft's Front Page Extensions with my website?
We do not support Front Page Extensions.
- Do you support PHP, SQL, mySQL, ColdFusion, ASP, JSP, Java servlets,
Python, Pike, Lasso, TCL or Zope?
We do not offer any of these programs or services.
Our service mix is tailored to the types of sites that we host, which
are generally small content sites with only requires basic services such
as cgi, shell access, ssi, etc. This works quite well for the more than
1000 domains that we host. Also, by not offering these services we have
been able to successfully filter out larger, more resource intensive
sites. Knowing exactly the type of site that we can best host helps keep
our pricing reasonable and support responsive. We understand that as
some of our customer's sites grow and become more complex they will need
to move to a larger host with a wider range or services.
- Can I install external software on the server?
We do not allow outside software or programs (aside from cgi scripts
written in Perl) to be installed on our servers. This is to preserve the
integrity of our servers and maintain optimal performance. Since many
websites share one server, additional software for one site, might
adversely effect the other sites on the same server.
- Do you have a reseller program or do you you co-locate
servers?
No, our focus is on hosting individual sites.
- I would like to add a "Powered by Viet Internet" button to my site

- Is there a SSL (secure server) option available for a sercure
server?
Yes, SSL (secure server) with 40-bit or 128-bit SSL encryption is
available for $5.00/month + $20.00 setup. You can use your own
certificate (Verisign
or Thawte) or our
certificate with 40-bit encryption combined with our shared secure
server: secure.vietinternet.com.
